Parkly and Innogreen created this parklet as part of an experiment run by the city of Helsinki to examine how green walls can serve as a barrier against traffic noise, while also creating a cool place to sit on a hot day and hosting pollinator-friendly plants.
On a street where tree planting was a challenge, three meters high 'Living Pillars' by Scotscape, were introduced with an ambition to create a green corridor in the area. Attached to lampposts, the pillars contain bird and insect boxes, solar panels and monitoring tech for efficient watering and maintenance.
